I have had this image in my head for a while and I think it executed nicely. While this isn’t necessarily the most convenient time in my life to be doing personal work, it is a necessary evil to keep things up. Plus I got a little behind with the 12 faces project. One of the biggest criticisms that I received in college was that I needed to use more models. They got tired of seeing my wife. Well, you might recognize this boy.  All I can say is family make the cheapest and most convenient models.

future scars

This is an older shot that I dusted off for the 12 Faces project. This is my son who had an unfortunate accident on the playground and a not so enjoyable time in the emergency room. I love this picture.

facelift

c_cactus

It has been a while since I have blogged anything. Mainly because I have been so FREAKING busy. In the spare moments that I’ve had, five minutes here five minutes there, I have performed a facelift on my website. So erase the blog on the end of the URL and check it out.

I also used this for one of the 12 Faces images. www.12faces.org

12 faces – someone stop the depressing themes

So the theme for this months was a song from Nine Inch Nails. I am getting a little strung out on all of the depressing themes we’ve had. After looking up the lyrics I came across this sentence in the song: “Grey would be the color if I had a heart.” I got this image in my head instantly. It is a little more disturbing than the others, but I knew I wouldn’t be entering this one in for Portrait Prize anyways, since it is not really a traditional portrait. Going crazy with the Photoshop.

By the way the next theme is my pick and I tried to keep it a little more fun. “Only in dreams.” That way people can do pretty much whatever they want.

12 Faces – Nervous Breakdown

This is my September submission for the 12 faces project. The theme was a little more open as it was not just one word. The theme was an image submitted from a Radiohead album. I decided to make it totally literal and add a little comedy to it, as the themes have been very dark and depressing. You can see the other submissions here. Here was the theme image:

12 faces – “angst”

Here is my submission for this months 12 Faces project. The theme for this month was “angst.” An image like this popped into my head the first time I thought of what I would do with the theme. I debated actually doing it, as I am very opposed to smoking, but I feel this does not condone the act at all. You can see the rest of the images here. (Just a warning, another photographer submitted a nude. It actually makes me mad, as I wanted the project to be family friendly, but I’m not in charge. You can skip over the eighth photo to avoid it.)

Here were two other ideas that I shot but didn’t like as much for the project:

12 faces – “commitment”

I have been meaning to post something about this for a while now. A few months ago, I was approached by someone in England about doing a photography project. It would consist of 12 photographers from around the world taking one picture a month with e predetermined theme. The result would be 12 photographs a month. The project lasts for, you guessed it, 12 months. So by the time the project is done each photographer will have taken 12 photographs. If you are confused, I’m sorry. At the end of the 12 months each photographer will choose his or her best and submit it to the National Portrait Gallery of London, a highly prestigious award.

The picture above is from July’s theme of “commitment.” You can see the other 11 photographs here.

The main website is here.
