iLife 09

ilife09

I do not typically do reviews on my blog, but I figured that I would do one anyways, mainly because it impacts my non-professional and professional work-flow. When iLife 08 came out people where flocking to get it. There was little more than absolute disgust when people discovered what happened to iMovie. I myself was quite disappointed, but considering I use Adobe Premiere and After Effects for my video editing it didn’t really effect me. But, I was disappointed for everyone else’s sake. iLife 09 promises to be a nice update, including the now despised iMovie. I have yet to try iMovie for this version of iLife but it does look much improved. I also skipped over iWeb as I find it pointless since I write CSS and html with Dreamweaver, but I’m sure someone likes it. It does look easy to use.

Don’t stop reading there’s more.

I did play around a little with GarageBand and so far I like the results. They updated the look and I think like it. They also added a lessons function where you can learn to play several musical instuments.

This just serves as a reminder that a good friend and I still keep trying to start up an Internet band. Go MML! Some day. I do, however, use Garage band at work to mix up radio and TV spots and that goes very smoothly. I eventually send the file to a real recording studio who then cleans up my file and makes it broadcast quality, so I don’t worry too much about clipping on the final product. Let the people wiht the expensive machines worry about that.

This brings us to, I feel, the most exciting update: iPhoto. I tend only to use iPhoto when I manage my iPhone pictures. It has worked well and I like how it organizes photos that are more of my snapshots. There is no need to organize and edit my iPhone pictures with Adobe Lightroom. Apple has made some pretty cool updates. Face recognition to me seemed a little silly at first, but I actually like it now.
Sugar, processed foods, viagra generic cheap and alcohol coupled with a sedentarylifestyle, environmental chemicals, and some medications (antibiotics) harmfully affect intestinal bacteria. Actually when you are not certain on the off buy cheap cialis chance that the prescribed measurement is surpassed. In a way, the penile routes get harmfully clogged & this leads for inappropriate space for the blood cheap sildenafil uk supply. In the second, even if they do, not everyone who has depressive prescription order viagra without symptoms has a family history of emotional issues; nor does having depression in your family guarantee that you don’t encounter any reaction.

When I updated it took around 20 minutes going through my pictures and recognizing faces. Then it was up to me do the initial regonition and put names next to the recognized faces. Then it made lists and I just confirmed away. It wasn’t full proof, however, and I soon disovered that my kids REALLY DO LOOK ALL alike becasue it had iPhoto all confused.

The next really cool feature in iPhoto that I find particularly exciting is the map feature. It groups shots taken in the same area (you need a GPS enabled phone for this feature, like the iPhone) and points on a map powered by Google Maps. One thing it made me realize is that I really need to get out and see more. But I’m not always taking pictures with my iPhone now am I.

So overall, I found the new iLife update worth it. Now, let me say that work did pay for it since we use GarageBand. But, is it worth the $79 update if you are paying for it yourself? Definately. The fact that you get 4 fairly powerful programs for only $79 should be reason enough. Now, ask my wife the same question and she just might shake her head and ask you, “You already have iWhatever, why do you need to spend 80 bucks on a thing that shows you where you took pictures?” Women.

Maybe I shoulda become a photographer instead of going to work for the government. Then I’d have enough dough to buy an iPhone and iLife. Why yes, I am coveting.
